DOCTORAL WORKSHOP

We would like to welcome PhD students to participate in the IPSERA Doctoral Workshop organized on Sunday 10 April 2022 in Jönköping. The objective of the workshop is to help PhD students to develop and improve their research and to build an international network of fellow PhD students and world-renowned faculty. The IPSERA Doctoral Workshop is targeted purchasing and supply management PhD students.

Participating students will have the opportunity to present their research, which will be discussed by their colleagues and senior faculty. During the workshop, they will also benefit from talks related to methods, career development, and the publication process. At a ‘Meet the editors’ session, journal editors will present their ideas on how to be successful in the publication process.

The Doctoral Workshop coordinator is Professor Anni-Kaisa Kähkönen.

APPLICATION to the Doctoral Workshop
STEP 1 - Statement of interest

PhD students interested in presenting their research should submit a brief statement of interest by 30th November 2021, by email to Prof. Anni-Kaisa Kähkönen at DW@ipsera.com.  This statement should contain:

  • your name
  • affiliation
  • name(s) of supervisor(s)
  • project title
  • brief project description
  • indication of where you currently are in the process of completing your doctorate.

STEP 2

A full research proposal or a paper that is part of the PhD dissertation (max. 20 pages) and a letter of recommendation from the PhD supervisor have to be submitted before 15th January 2022 by email to Prof. Anni-Kaisa Kähkönen to DW@ipsera.com. The full research proposal/paper will be reviewed, and the number of accepted proposals for the presentations will be limited.

REVIEW CRITERIA

  • Topical fit with IPSERA
  • Clarity of research purpose (relevance, objectives, and research questions)
  • Review of relevant literature
  • Thoughtful discussion of research methods
  • Stage of the research
The notification of the acceptance will be emailed by 31st January 2022.

The stage of the research is important. It should be a proposal with some level of maturity looking for comments. If it is just an initial idea without plans for execution, there is too little content for our faculty to comment upon. On the other hand, it should not be a project that is nearly finished, because comments from our faculty would be impractical at that stage. If your doctoral dissertation is designed as a collection of papers, your submission could be a proposal for one of those papers.

We would like to emphasize that we expect all submissions to the doctoral workshop to be research proposals, not finalized manuscripts, conference papers or journal articles.

COSTS & REGISTRATION

There is no extra fee for participation in the Doctoral Workshop. However, participation in the IPSERA 2022 Conference is requested.  All PhD students registered to the conference are eligible for the reduced conference fee of €200To receive the reduced PhD fee, send an email with proof of your PhD status and mention your motivation of participation to Associate Prof. Antonella Moretto (bursaries@ipsera.com) to receive a code that enables you to register with the PhD fee through the IPSERA registration website.
