Steve is currently a Senior Lecturer at Edge Hill University Business School, where he teaches and researches in the areas of Purchasing & Supply Chain Management, Strategic Management and Operations Management.
Before his academic career, Steve worked for over ten years for a number of different high profile global organisations such as Siemens, GEC and the NHS, in a variety of Supply Chain, Operations and Project Management roles. He has a PhD in Management Science from Lancaster University, is a member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS), a CIPS Assessor, a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA) and an Executive Committee member of the International Purchasing & Supply Education & Research Association (IPSERA).
He has a wide range of research interests, including tendering processes, gamification and PSM education, with publications in leading journals such as the International Journal of Operations & Production Management, Production Planning & Control and the Journal of Purchasing & Supply Management.
He is currently working on a €449,600 EU ERASMUS+ Strategic Partnerships project (PERSIST) with the Universities of Twente, Dortmund, Lappeenranta and Bratislava, looking at the impact of Industry 4.0 on PSM. He also worked on the EU ERASMUS+ Strategic Partnerships project PERFECT, which developed an empirically validated European best practice curriculum for bachelor’s and a master’s programs in PSM.
He is also a journal reviewer for Supply Chain Management: An International Journal, the Journal of Purchasing & Supply Management, Production Planning & Control and Information, Technology & People.
